The Foundation is committed to the development of resources and information that will provide patients and their families with accurate, up-to-date information. The materials in this section are intended to increase your confidence and comfort with your treatment.

Other sources to contact for information include:

• Your family physician
  
• Your local hospital
  
• Your orthopaedic surgeon, once known. Your doctor can give you information and education about your diagnosis, treatment alternatives and the course of care, especially expectations for surgical outcomes.
  
• Public library

We regret that we cannot provide surgical advice or referrals. Under the Canada Health Act, all patients must be referred to an orthopaedic surgeon by a family physician.
